Help us build a permanent Madinah Orphanage!
Your contribution will help establish a permanent home for our orphans in Miragoane, Haiti.
On January 12th, 2010, an earthquake devastated the nation of Haiti. In a matter of a single event, this country’s infrastructure, economy, and educational system were largely destroyed. The most vulnerable of this population have been the children. Countless children became orphans due to this earthquake and countless more have been abandoned because of harsh socio-economic conditions.
The Humanity Projects strives to change the outlook of these children’s lives by providing assistanace in living, education, and overall well-being.
What We Have Done
In December of 2015, a group of our founders, then merely college students, were on a relief trip in the outskirts of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. when they visited an extremely underfunded orphanage called Orphanage Nour. Servicing 20+ orphans, this facility had no access to electricity; when the sun went down, the young, lively, and energetic kids had no choice but to go into their crammed, dark, and cold rooms and sleep. At that time, those young founders unanimously made a last minute decision to pool their own money together to provide the orphanage with a battery inverter system to power their facility through the day and night. Realizing this inverter wasn’t enough, this was just the beginning..
Upon returning from Haiti, The Humanity Projects, a registered non-profit, was born.
Establishing the non-profit gave the young founder a base to stand on and on the next next trip in March 2016, The Humanity Projects replaced the orphanage’s old and weak generator with a brand new 3,000 watts generator. This generator is now charging the batteries and providing a source of light to the orphanage. These orphans have only seen darkness ever since their parents left, but with work done by the team at The Humanity Projects, we’ve now brought light into their lives.
What We Are Doing –
Madinah Orphanage & Academy
On September 2nd, 2016, Madinah Orphanage opened its doors to serve orphans and provide them with access to safe shelter, food, and most importantly, a future.
After establishing the orphanage, the education of these orphans was the next goal for the team at The Humanity Projects. On November 28, 2016; Madinah Academy opened its doors to provide these orphans with an enriching academic experience. With 7 highly-qualified teachers and administrators, our dream of giving these orphans a real education is finally coming true. Madinah Academy will host an American education curriculum providing education in subjects including: Creole, French, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences, Physical Education, and Religious Studies.
The Humanity Projects is a 100% volunteer-run organization which means every dollar donated is used directly for the benefit of the communities we serve. This ensures that overhead expenses remain minimal and every penny from your donation goes towards the actual projects.
